Town of Valentina

Accessibility

Town of Valentina wants everyone to be able to request and receive public records, including people who use assistive technology.

Need help, or a record in another format?

If something on this site doesn't work for you, or you need a record in another format (such as large print, an accessible PDF, plain text, or a transcript), tell us. There's no charge. We'll respond within 2 working days.

Please tell us the page or record, and what happened. You can also make a records request by contacting us directly instead of using this portal.

About this platform

How the portal is built

This portal is operated for Town of Valentina by Alebrije Digital Services. The sections below describe the software itself and apply to every agency using it.

The standard we build to

The portal is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard the Americans with Disabilities Act (Title II) sets for state and local government websites. Public pages are checked against it as they change: language, page titles, a skip link, landmarks, headings, labeled form fields, and errors tied to the field they describe. Color contrast and keyboard use are checked in a browser.

What you can expect

Keyboard
Pages are built to be used with a keyboard alone. A “Skip to content” link comes first, and the item you are on is outlined.
Screen readers
Form fields have labels, buttons say what they do, and messages such as errors are announced.
Zoom and small screens
Pages are built to reflow on phones and when zoomed to 200 percent, without sideways scrolling.
Plain language
Instructions are written to be understood the first time.
Time limits
Sign-in codes expire after a short time for security. You can always ask for a new one.

Known limitations

Some things on this portal may not work well for everyone. In each case, the agency can give you the same information another way.

Released records
Records are released as the agency holds them. Scanned documents, photos of paper, spreadsheets and redacted copies may not read well with a screen reader. Ask for another format and the agency will help.
Audio and video
Recordings may not have captions or a transcript. You can ask for one.
Card payments
Card payments are taken on a secure page run by the payment processor, Stripe. If that page doesn’t work for you, the agency can take payment another way.
Spam check
The request and sign-up forms run an automatic check for spam (Cloudflare Turnstile). It normally needs nothing from you. If it stops you, contact the agency and they will take your request directly.

If something doesn’t work for you

Tell the agency
Use any of the ways listed at the top of this page. Say which page or record, and what happened. You can also make a records request directly with the agency instead of using the portal.
At no cost
Alternate formats and other help are provided at no charge.
About the software
Problems with the portal itself are passed to the vendor, who fixes them for every agency that uses it.
